Connecticut Nursing Prerequisites
Nursing is a very rewarding career that enables the nurse not only to interact with patients and provide the comfort and care required while vulnerable in a hospital, but also to become part of a complete support team of doctors and other health care professionals that can make a difference in the life of the patient.
Prior to doing so, however, the student must complete the education required to become a nurse as one of the main Connecticut nursing prerequisites. With many programs to choose from through the state and multiple options for delivery including part time, full time and even various educational facilities where the programs are offered, there are a myriad of decisions that the student must make before they decide to pursue a career in nursing.
The prerequisites that are required before the student is able to enter the nursing program include certain courses that are required in secondary school. These courses include math and science, as well as requiring the student to complete an anatomy and physiology course either at the beginning of the program, or before the nursing program begins. This way, the student is able to have the background information to build upon for the information that is learned through the nursing program.
Once the student has ensured that they have the required Connecticut nursing prerequisites for the program that they have chosen, they should ensure that they are choosing the right program for their career choice. The student can choose between a nursing assistant program, a practical nurse program, a registered nurse program and a nurse practitioner program. Choosing between these programs will depend on the type of nursing career that the student would like to attain. It can also determine the salary that the student is going to earn through the course of their career.
Each of these programs will have different prerequisites and the student should take this into account while choosing between the various programs that are available. This way, the student can be prepared with the career choices that are going to be made.
