Wyoming Nursing Prerequisites

Nursing is a career where the student can work as a part of the health care team, working one on one with doctors and other health care professionals. Nurses have the option to work in a hospital, a clinic or a different type of medical facility. As part of the health care team, the nurse will act as a liaison in patient care, working with the patient and doctors to provide medical care and attention while patients are at their most vulnerable.

Students considering the career in nursing should first consider the Wyoming nursing prerequisites for the universities and colleges where the nursing programs are being offered. Students can compare the nursing programs to determine which are best suited to the previous education of the student, and also determine which are suited to the schedule the student would like to adhere to for the education. There are programs that range in length between nine months and several years, and therefore students can make the decision to determine which nursing program is right for them, based on the Wyoming nursing prerequisites that are seen throughout the nursing program.

Students can consider the common prerequisites to ensure that they are prepared for the career in nursing. The common Wyoming nursing prerequisites include the student completing their secondary education courses and ensuring that sciences, math and English are included in these programs. Additional prerequisites may be required for specific nursing programs including medical terminology and anatomy. Often, these courses are required once the student has been admitted into the program, for conditional admission. The student is required to complete the program before they are eligible to begin.

Once the education process has been completed, the student is required to submit to examination through the state board of nurses. Students are required to complete an examination to review the information that had been learned throughout the nursing program as well as the ethics and other issues that are associated with nursing. This way, it can be ensured that the student is ready to begin their career and they encompass the information required to be an effective nurse.
